Tuesday night sees the first batch of Champions League fourth qualifying round second-leg matches being played out, with the remaining games kicking off 24 hours later. With all eight games still too close to call, everyone involved will be going all out to secure qualification. Celtic will be hoping home advantage can see them through against Helsingborgs, while Udinese and Lille still have work to do to get past Braga and FC Copenhagen respectively.
The winners will go into the draw for the group stages of the competition, which will be made on Thursday morning in Monaco. Neil Lennon’s side go into the game on the back of a 4-2 win at Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday which took them to the top of the SPL, while their opponents, who sit in fifth place in the Allsvenskan, have lost their last three games in all competitions.
Helsingborgs were the last Swedish team to feature in the group stages back in the 2000/01 campaign, when they finished bottom of the pile.
The first goal at Celtic Park will be key to the outcome; if it goes to the visitors, we could well have a game on our hands.
Over 2.5 goals in Udinese v SC Braga @ 21/20
This game is finely poised after the two sides played out a 1-1 draw in Braga last week, with Ismaily cancelling out Dusan Basta’s opener.
The Portuguese side just fell short of progressing to the knockout stages of the competition last season, finishing behind Arsenal and group winners Shakhtar Donetsk.
Jose Peseiro’s men were victorious in the league at the weekend, beating Beira-Mar 3-1, while Udinese lost their opening league game of the season, falling to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Fiorentina.
The Italian side last featured in the group stages back in the 2005/06 campaign and possibly just have the edge with their away goal, though coach Francisco Guidolin’s side will surely push for the victory.
Over 2.5 goals in Lille v FC Copenhagen @ 91/100
A Cesar Santin goal was enough to separate these two sides last week, as last season’s Danish Super Liga runners-up ran out 1-0 winners.
Ariel Jacobs’ side are without defeat in their last 11 competitive games and proudly sit top of their domestic division.
Lille are unbeaten in their three Ligue 1 games this season and have lost in front of their own fans just twice in the past 12 months.
The French side finished bottom of their group in last season’s competition, while Copenhagen’s last participation was the season before, when Chelsea knocked them out in the round of 16.
