Dinamo Moscow should outclass Dundee United
Dundee United face illustrious opposition in the form of Dinamo Moscow in their Europa League qualifier and the extra class of the Russians should tell.
With all that’s going on at the moment, Scottish football could really do with a lift right now.

The collapse of Glasgow Rangers, who are the highest profile club to suffer at the hands of football’s inability to regulate its own finances, has left football north of the border in a state of shock, not to mention worry as other clubs in the SPL begin to realise that without the guaranteed income that matches with the Ibrox club brought, they too might go the same way as the Gers.
With the SPL in turmoil, a good showing in Europe would give those clubs involved (and the country as a whole) a shot in the arm, and three sides are in qualifying action this week ahead of the start of the domestic season on Saturday.

With German striker Kevin Kuranyi still banging in the goals despite hitting 30 – the former Stuttgart hitman struck 13 league goals last term – I fear Dinamo will have too much for Peter Houston’s men.
It didn’t started well, though, with Motherwell losing at home to Panathinaikos. Celtic fared better against Helsinki on Wednesday but conceded an away goal in a 2-1 win, meaning it is Dundee United’s turn to try and put a smile on the face of Scottish football.
The Tannadice side host Dinamo Moscow today in a Europa League qualifier, and much like Motherwell before them, United are up against it. This is reflected in the odds: bwin make Moscow the 67/100 favourites and United the 15/4 outsiders, with the draw at 12/5 and despite the Russian’s poor start to the season, it is hard to see past them here.
Sergei Silkin’s side have lost their opening two league matches, both away from home without scoring (although one of those was at Zenit St Petersburg) but the standard of the Russian league is far superior to that of the SPL and in finishing third in the regular season and eventually fourthin the Championship group table in 2012, Moscow have proved themselves to be the much better side.

Dundee United finished fourth themselves last term, but a distant 34 points behind Celtic and their two results against better opposition thus far in pre-season – defeats against Rapid Vienna and Everton, both without scoring – show that any step up in class will prove difficult for Houston’s players to cope with.
But odds-on aren’t the sort of thing I like to get involved with, so I’ll look instead to the 9/15 that Dinamo win a match that sees over 2.5 goals. Dundee United scored 62 goals last season – only the Old Firm scored more – and only failed to score seven times all year so they do have a goal in them. Similarly, only Zenit and CSKA scored more than Dinamo’s 50 goals in the 30 regular season games so I expect a few goals, but with Dinamo’s extra class to eventually tell.
Recommended bet: Dinamo to win and over 2.5 goals @ 9/5
