Chelsea favourites for FA Cup after wrecking Spurs’ dreams
After beating Tottenham 5-1 in their FA Cup semi-final yesterday, Chelsea have been installed as bwin's betting favourites to win the competition.
Chelsea are odds-on to lift the FA Cup for a seventh time after demolishing Tottenham in yesterday’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
The Blues earned a comprehensive if controversial 5-1 victory over their London rivals thanks to goals from Didier Drogba, Juan Mata, Ramires, Frank Lampard and Florent Malouda, with Gareth Bale scoring the consolation for Harry Redknapp’s side.
Redknapp was left to rue the decision of referee Martin Atkinson to award a second goal for Chelsea despite it appearing to the naked eye that Juan Mata’s shot was blocked on the line – a view apparently supported by television replays.
Mata’s ‘goal’ after 49 minutes made it 2-0 to the Blues and ensured Tottenham were chasing the game even when halving the deficit through Bale with more than half an hour still to play.

The Reds have won each of the last four encounters between the two clubs, including in the Carling Cup earlier this season.
And, with Redknapp having thrown on another striker in a bid to get the equaliser, Chelsea were able to pick off their opponents, add three further goals and put the tie beyond all doubt.
Their adversaries in the final will be Liverpool, who beat Everton 2-1 in the other semi-final thanks to a late goal from Andy Carroll.
Kenny Dalglish’s men are priced at 23/20 to lift their second trophy of the season, having already clinched the Carling Cup.
They have been less successful in the league, where they are 11 points worse off than Champions League-chasing Chelsea in eighth.
And with the Blues so ruthless in their defeat of Spurs, they go into the game as 13/20 favourites to win the FA Cup and at 5/4 to clinch victory in normal time.
But there is hope for Liverpool. The Reds have won each of the last four encounters between the two clubs, including in the Carling Cup earlier this season.
They could therefore be good value for the win in normal time at odds of 21/10, while the draw after 90 minutes is at 11/5 in bwin’s 3Way football betting market.
