Belgium, Croatia and Wales odds shorten following victories

Friday evening’s games in World Cup qualifying Group A saw away wins for favourites Belgium and Croatia in Serbia and Macedonia respectively, while Wales came from behind to beat Scotland and give manager Chris Coleman his first win since taking charge.

Belgium currently sit top of the group on goal difference after strikes from Christian Benteke, Kevin De Bruyne and Kevin Mirallas gave the Belgians a 3-0 triumph – their biggest away win in over a decade.

Marc Wilmot’s side are now priced at 19/20 to win the group outright, and just 3/20 to finish in the top two, while Serbia are 6/4 to secure at least second place and 5/1 to reach Brazil 2014 by finishing first.

Croatia are also on seven points after surviving a scare in Macedonia. Maribor forward Agim Ibraimi had given the hosts the lead before goals from Vedran Corluka and Ivan Rakitic gave Igor Stimac’s men the three points.

Macedonia are now 250/1 outsiders to win Group A, while Croatia are second favourites at 6/4. Like Belgium, the Croats are odds on at 11/50 to secure a top-two finish.

After six straight defeats, Wales finally returned to winning ways in dramatic fashion against Scotland in Cardiff. James Morrison had given the visitors the lead in the first half before a late double from Gareth Bale secured the points for the hosts.

Both British teams are now priced at 25/1 to finish in the top two, though Wales have the edge in the group winners’ market at a price of 100/1, with Scotland available at 150/1.
