Following their impressive victory against Blackpool at the weekend, Cardiff City have been installed as favourites to win promotion to the Premier League next season, while victories for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leicester City and Leeds United have strengthened their respective cases for returning to the top flight.
Malky Mackay’s men, who have competed in the play-offs to no avail for in the past three campaigns, are now 8/5 to secure that elusive promotion – and just 6/1 to win the league outright – after their 3-0 defeat of the Seasiders.
However, Blackpool, who were favourites to lift the Championship trophy before suffering two defeats in a week, have seen their odds drift to 10/1 while Brighton and Hove Albion, who remain top of the division despite their shock home defeat to Birmingham City, are now 8/1.
Blackburn Rovers began life without Steve Kean with a 1-1 draw at Charlton Athletic and remain at 2/1 for promotion and 13/2 to finish in pole position, with Leicester City the same price for the title (and 9/4 for promotion) after coming from a goal down to beat Middlesbrough 2-1 and rise to fifth place.

Next in the market are Wolverhampton Wanderers, who have gone in to 7/1 for the title after their fourth straight league win, the latest coming against a Sheffield Wednesday side who are now 20/1 to gain promotion.
Bolton Wanderers are now 10/1 in the league winner’s market having been narrowly beaten by a resurgent Crystal Palace side who themselves are priced at 14/1 for promotion.
Leeds, meanwhile, secured back-to-back league victories for the first time this season with their 3-2 success at Bristol City and are now 5/1 to be promoted, though Nottingham Forest, who lost a fiery East Midlands derby on Sunday, have drifted out to 6/1.
