Money to be made by backing goals as Birmingham entertain Huddersfield
Stay well clear of punting for either side to win as the Terriers travel to St Andrews and instead stick to betting on plenty of goals being scored.
Recent weeks results prove just how difficult it is to correctly predict the outcome of Championship fixtures and so you will have to forgive me, dear reader, for not being too confident about predicting which way Birmingham City’s clash with Huddersfield Town will go on Saturday afternoon.

Lee Clark’s men were humiliated 5-0 in-front of their own fans against Barnsley a fortnight ago and followed that result by defeating high-flying Brighton 1-0 at the Amex Stadium and losing narrowly at in-form Cardiff in midweek.
As for Huddersfield, they have been just as hit and miss as their latest opponents. Beating Blackpool 3-1 at Bloomfield Road in front of the Sky cameras was a stupendous result and one which really got people talking up their chances in this tough division.

However, their next fixture ended in a 3-2 loss to Gianfranco Zola’s unpredictable Watford side. And on Tuesday night, Leicester City travelled to the John Smith’s Stadium and left with all three points thanks to a 2-0 win.

The defeat to Leicester can be forgiven slightly once you see the two frankly astonishing strikes from Anthony Knockaert that downed the Terriers, but the loss to Watford would have really hurt Simon Grayson and his players.
On the back of two defeats, Huddersfield are available at odds of 11/5 to hit back and collect maximum points on the road, while the draw is on offer at the same price.
These examples alone tell you exactly how tough it is to succeed when trying to pick a winner in a Championship fixture, so instead of talking one team up and seeing them get drubbed, I will concentrate on the more obscure markets for this game.
Although you won’t make a fortune from backing it, both teams to score in 90 minutes looks a great bet at 13/20, considering Clark’s team average 1.11 goals a game and the Terriers average an impressive 1.56 goals per game.
For a bit of extra value, I like the look of over 3.5 goals at 2/1. The statistics do not fully back up this sentiment but there is enough evidence for me to have a little flutter.
Four of Huddersfield’s league matches have ended with over 3,5 goals and the same is true of three of Birmingham’s, while the meeting of two defences which are yet to convince (Birmingham have shipped 16 goals in nine games, with Huddersfield letting in 11) makes this bet appeal at decent odds.
New customers who register with bwin receive a free 20 bet and placing it on over 3.5 goals being recorded during the game would result in you winning £60 if the tip proves successful.
Just don’t ask me to tell you exactly how those goals will be divided between the two teams…
