PSG heavy favourites to beat newly-promoted Brighton

Odds of 2/5 on Paris Saint-Germain to beat Brighton suggest the Seagulls have a hard night ahead of them.

PSG heavy favourites to beat newly-promoted Brighton

Newly-rich Paris Saint-Germain take on Championship new-boys Brighton in what looks likely to be a one-sided friendly this evening.

Football betting odds provided by bwin have the French side down as 2/5 favourites to win the match, with Brighton success priced at 21/4 and a draw at 13/4.

PSG’s takeover by Qatar Investment authority at the end of May made them the French version of Manchester City, sparking a transfer rumour frenzy.

Players at some of Europe’s biggest clubs have been linked with a move to Paris, with Lazio striker Mauro Zarate and Sochaux’s Marvin Martin just two of those tipped be at the Parc des Princes at the start of the season.

Closer to home, PSG are rumoured to be preparing a £15 million move for want-away QPR playmaker Adel Taarabt.

With goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez and Kevin Gameiro having already been signed from Rennes and Lorient respectively, PSG look to be gearing up for a serious assault on the Ligue 1 title.

Brighton, meanwhile, are preparing for their first season in the second tier of English football since 2005.

The gulf in class between the sides is not only represented by the leagues they play in, but also by their transfer dealings this summer.

While PSG have been chasing Zarate, Martin and co, Brighton have been busy wrapping up the signing of Craig Mackail-Smith from Peterborough United.

However, there is also evidence to suggest that Brighton have a chance of upsetting PSG when they meet at the Albufeira Municipal Stadium in the Algarve.

This will be PSG’s fourth friendly of the summer and they have yet to record a victory, with their results so far including a 3-2 loss to Swiss side FC Sion.

With this in mind, punters could back Brighton to win or draw this evening at odds of 33/20 in bwin’s double chance football betting market.

A successful £25 free bet on the match to end in either a draw or a Brighton win, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £66.25.

That said, odds on PSG suggest there will not be many people betting on anything other than a win for the French team.
