Blackburn installed as favourites for Championship title after Leicester win

Blackburn Rovers have risen to the top of the outright winner market in the Championship after their unbeaten start to the campaign continued on Saturday as they saw off Leicester City, while Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, Charlton Athletic and Blackpool are all also yet to taste defeat – the latter maintaining their 100% record by thumping Ipswich Town 6-0.

Morten Gamst Pedersen’s fine winner with ten minutes to go at Ewood Park on Saturday sees his side remain at 7/1 for to clinch the title, though they are now shorter than local rivals and previous favourites Bolton Wanderers, who could only draw in their game with Forest on Friday evening.

Owen Coyle’s men have now gone out from 6/1 to 15/2, which is the same price available for Blackpool, who ran riot against Ipswich Town, securing their third win in three games.

Despite their defeat to Blackburn, Leicester are third favourites at 8/1, while Leeds United, who recorded their second win of the season at Peterborough United at the weekend, are next in line at 11/1.

Cardiff City and Wolverhampton Wanderers are, along with Forest, a 12/1 chance. The latter were impressive for the majority of that 2-2 draw at Bolton and have set the foundations for a promotion push following a tough season on and off the pitch last time around.

Middlesbrough and Brighton and Hove Albion are both 16/1 following their victories over Crystal Palace and Barnsley respectively, as are Sheffield Wednesday, who currently sit second in the league following their impressive victory over Millwall, which took them to seven points.

Charlton remain unbeaten having played out a goalless draw with Hull City and are now 25/1 to lift the Championship trophy in May.
