Unbeaten Rovers see title odds shorten following six-goal thriller

Unbeaten Rovers see title odds shorten following six-goal thriller

Blackburn Rovers maintained their unbeaten start to their Championship campaign at the weekend after a 3-3 draw with Leeds United that saw Steve Kean’s men rise to second in the table, while Nottingham Forest, who are the only other side in the division yet to taste defeat, lifted themselves to third place following their 2-1 victory over Charlton Athletic.

Blackburn, who would have topped the division if they hadn’t squandered their two-goal lead at Elland Road, are now 6/1 to win the division outright and 5/2 to gain promotion, while United are now at a best price of 4/1 to return to the Premier League after an eight-year absence.

Forest were impressive in their victory over Charlton, who lost for the first time this season. Sean O’Driscoll’s side have, like Blackburn, picked up eight points from their opening four games and are now 7/2 for promotion and 11/1 to finish top of the table. The Addicks have drifted to 33/1 in the league winners market.

Blackpool’s 100 per cent start to the season came to an end in Saturday evening’s game with Leicester City and the Tangerines are 8/1 to finish where they are now – on top of the Championship. However, Nigel Pearson’s men have overtaken them in the market, with the Foxes’ title odds shortening to 15/2 following their 1-0 victory at the King Power Stadium.

Bolton Wanderers, who were humbled 3-1 by Hull City on Saturday, have dropped to 8/1 to win the division, while Cardiff City, also 3-1 victors over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, are the big movers in the title winning market, going in to 10/1 from 12/1.

Finally, Birmingham City, who recorded their first win under Lee Clark with a 1-0 triumph over Peterborough United at St Andrews, arguably provide the best value in the promotion market going in to the international break. You can get odds of 7/1 for Blues to return to the top division after relegation in 2011.
