La Liga Midweek Betting Preview

Last weekend’s La Liga matches threw up plenty of thrills and spills, with Barcelona only managing a draw with nine-man Sevilla at the Nou Camp, Real Madrid thumping big-spending Malaga 4-0 and, most incredibly of all, Levante moving to the top of the table with a 3-0 victory at Villarreal.

There should be more drama with a full midweek programme in Spain and you can have a flutter on the action with bwin’s free £25 bet. Alternatively, you can click here to see all our La Liga odds. Read on for bwinbetting’s Sam Cale’s take on all ten matches.

Despite what happened against Sevilla, I think there is only one winner – unsurprisingly, that’s Barcelona. Pep Guardiola’s men go into the game having not conceded in the last six games in all competitions and Granada are finding life in La Liga hard, having only scored two goals. The Catalan giants have scored 16 out of their 26 league goals in the first half so for them to score more goals prior to the interval seems reasonable at 17/10, especially with such a short 3Way price making no appeal.

Betting tip: Barca to score more goals in the first half than second half @ 17/10

Sevilla v Racing Santander (9pm)

Home win: 2/5  Draw: 333/100   Away win: 7/1

Racing are now bottom of the table and remain without a win after their 1-0 defeat against Espanyol at the weekend. They have only scored in two league games this season out of the eight and Sevilla have kept five clean sheets so far, so 23/20 for the Andalucians to win to nil is good value.

Betting tip: Sevilla to win without conceding @23/20

Wednesday October 26th

Getafe v Osasuna (7pm)

Home win: 22/25   Draw: 5/2   Away win: 3/1

Osasuna travel to Getafe after an impressive 3-0 victory over Real Zaragoza and their head-to-head record is very close. They have been on the end of a defeat on four occasions, drawn three and won three encounters. They sit in mid-table having drawn half of their games and at 5/2 there’s a good chance the teams could end up with a share of the spoils with Getafe just out of the relegation zone.

Betting tip: Getafe and Osasuna to draw @ 5/2

Levante v Real Sociedad (7pm)

Home win: 3/4     Draw: 5/2    Away win: 15/4

Levante are the surprise package so far this season and are sitting pretty at the top of the table after their impressive win at El Madrigal. Sociedad haven’t won for four games since their 2-1 victory over Granada so things aren’t likely to change here. A Levante win at 3/4 looks a tad short but they have scored three goals in three out of their last four games, so backing a repeat at 16/5 must be worth a look.

Betting tip: Levante to score three or more goals @ 16/5

Rayo Vallecano v Malaga (7pm)

Home win: 2/1   Draw: 11/5   Away win: 27/20

Rayo Vallecano haven’t managed to win at home this season, while moneybags Malaga haven’t tasted victory on the road yet and that’s why I think the draw will be the best option at 11/5. Manuel Pelligrini’s men come into the game having conceded a total of seven goals in their last two outings, but they should have enough quality to at least get a point.

Betting tip: Rayo and Malaga to draw @ 11/5

Real Zaragoza v Valencia (7pm)

Home win: 23/10   Draw: 23/10  Away win: 23/20

Valencia travel to Zaragoza looking for the three points that could move them in to the top four. They have drawn their last two league games 1-1 but have only lost one game so far. Zaragoza are currently struggling in 14th and with over half of Valencia’s 11 goals coming in two league matches, this is unlikely to be a classic. A Valencia win and under 2.5 combined goals in the game at 15/4 is excellent value.

Betting tip: Valencia to win in a game with less than three goals @ 15/4

Real Mallorca v Sporting Gijon (9pm)

Home win: 91/100  Draw: 23/10  Away win: 31/10

Mallorca have drawn their last three games and despite Sporting moving off the bottom of the league with a win over Granada, expect the home side to bag the three points. In Mallorca’s games so far, there have been an average of two goals, while one goal has been the difference in both of their wins. For the latter to happen again you can get a price of 13/10.

Betting tip: Mallorca or Sporting to win by one goal @ 13/10

Real Madrid v Villarreal (9pm)

Home win: 3/25   Draw: 15/2  Away win: 16/1

With Real Madrid demonstrating their attacking quality by scoring 21 goals in their last six games in all competitions you can expect goals in this game. In their last three meetings with Villarreal there have been an average of six goals a game. In the last four league games, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain have both managed two hat-tricks each and they will have the chances in this match so Higuain to score three or more at 10/1 looks to be worth a little stab.

Betting tip: Higuain to score three or more goals @ 10/1

Thursday October 27th

Espanyol v Real Betis (7pm)

Home win: 6/5   Draw: 9/4   Away win: 9/4

A draw here at 9/4 seems good value, with the sides sitting seventh and eighth respectively having both won four and lost four. Betis are looking to stop a four-match losing streak, but six of the last ten meetings between these two have finished in a draw.

Betting tip: Espanyol and Betis to draw at 9/4

Athletic Bilbao v Atletico Madrid (9pm)

Home win: 7/5  Draw: 9/4  Away win:  19/10

The last game of round nine sees Athletic host Atletico Madrid. The team from the Basque country sit two places and one point below the much-changed side from the capital. Atleti are currently on a run of four games without a win, but they can feel confidence from the fact that 70% of the last ten meetings between these two have resulted in the away side leaving with three points.

Betting tip: Atletico Madrid to win @ 19/10
