Goals Galore: Get over 5/1 for a League One goal fest

The new football season is finally here and that means a new season of winning you people money (hopefully). For this opening day ‘goals galore’ bet we will be looking to the games involving Crewe Alexandra and Notts County; Sheffield United and Shrewsbury Town; and Stevenage and Carlisle United to all produce over 2.5 goals.

The early season matches will always be a struggle when it comes to betting, but you should use this to your advantage as the bookies will also struggle to price up certain matches accurately. Hopefully this will play into our hands come Saturday afternoon.

Saturday’s treble could see you pick up a win at 53/10, or in real money a £20 bet could see a return of £125.80. When you consider bwin give you a £20 free bet when you open a new account, this isn’t a bad deal at all.

So here we go then. We are rooting for these three matches from League One on Saturday to produce three goals or more:

Over 2.5 goals in Crewe v Notts County @ 83/100

Crewe won 5-0 in the Capital One Cup earlier this week and home advantage could help them produce the goods in front of goal once again. In League Two last season they found the net in their final 14 home matches and a boisterous home crowd in a new division should see more goals here. Notts County are fancied by a few to go well this season (well, me anyway) but their end of season form last campaign was shaky and full of goals on the road. Their last three games saw over 2.5 goals including a 4-2 loss and 4-1 victory, so more goals here would be no surprise.

Over 2.5 goals in Sheffield United v Shrewsbury @ 4/5

Sheffield United will be there or there abouts again this season and will want to get off to a flying start on home soil. They were the most successful team in front of goal last season and 15 of their last 17 home games went over 2.5 goals. Shrewsbury suffered a 4-0 defeat in the Capital One Cup against Leeds last week so could be on the receiving end of a hiding here. It’s also worth noting that their last two pre-season friendlies finished with over 2.5 goals being scored.

Over 2.5 goals in Stevenage v Carlisle @ 91/100

Stevenage won 3-1 in the Capital One Cup during the week and scored five goals in their last two matches at the end of last season. Carlisle aren’t the best on the road and suffered three defeats in their last three away games at the back end of the last campaign, with two of those defeats coming by two goals to one. Stevenage should fancy their chances of a win here but Carlisle can expect to get themselves on the scoresheet.
