Punters seeking a sure-fire treble this weekend could be advised to back Brentford against Hartlepool United, Crawley Town to make short work of Oldham Athletic and Cheltenham Town to beat Exeter City at odds of 5/1.
And if you’re feeling flush, that may be because it’s official: we are now out of recession. And while I’m not suggesting anyone starts splashing the cash on speedboats and jacuzzis, this week’s tasty trio of teams could be worth a significant punt.
Each of the three teams have been picked for their particular ability to claim wins at home and come with my personal seal of approval following a week spent pouring over charts, pie charts and match day pies – all in the name of research of course.
First up, there are the darklords of Crawley Town, who look set to continue their Imperial March to the Championship with a win over Oldham. Uwe Rosler’s German efficiency looks set to ensure his Brentford team cruise past hapless Hartlepool and promotion-chasing Cheltenham remain a safe bet against an exasperated Exeter.

Brentford to beat Hartlepool United @ 1/2
Brentford have been in fine form of late in League One, with just one defeat in their last eight competitive outings. The Bees have certainly rediscovered their sting at home too, with Rosler’s team recording five wins and one draw in their previous six matches at Griffin Park.
And the visit of Hartlepool should pose little danger to Brentford, with the Pools currently lying bottom of League One and managerless following the departure of Neale Cooper earlier this week.
Hartlepool have lost seven and drawn three of their last ten League One matches and have picked up just a single point from their seven games on the road this season.
When these two met at Griffin Park last December, Brentford received an early gift of three points from the visitors and Christmas could come even earlier this year with a home win at 1/2.
Crawley Town to beat Oldham Athletic @ 19/20
Whether you love or hate the ongoing Crawley Town project, the results continue to come for the big-spending club with one eye on the Championship.
Fourth in League One and just two points behind top-of-the-table Tranmere, the Red Devils have hit top gear in recent weeks with five wins from their last six games.
It may lack the atmosphere of some grounds in the division, but the home support of Broadfield Stadium is clearly having an effect on Crawley, who have now registered three straight wins on their own patch, with eight goals scored to boot.
Oldham, meanwhile, continue to struggle for form on the road, with just a single win from their last five away games in all competitions. A home win at 19/20 is looking good here, then.
Cheltenham Town to beat Exeter City @ 21/20
Last weekend’s 2-1 victory over Plymouth saw Cheltenham Town continue their fine recent form at home, with the win making it ten points from a possible 12 at Whaddon Road.
Hot on the heels of third-placed Fleetwood Town in League Two, the Robins will be eager to keep pace with the automatic promotion challengers and should have enough class to get past an out-of-sorts Exeter City.
The Grecians are on a woeful run, with just one point from their last four matches in the division. They could struggle against Cheltenham as the hosts have scored two goals in each of their last four home games.
Mark Yates’ team head into this one as solid favourites at odds of 21/20 and they must be backed to get the job done and hopefully round off a winning Home Heroes treble for League One and Two.
