Home Heroes: Rotherham, Gillingham and Sheff Utd can deliver a 6/1 treble

Fresh from successfully predicting three home winners in the Europa League, Jack Beresford picks three of the best from League One and League Two to back for victories this Saturday.

Home Heroes: Rotherham, Gillingham and Sheff Utd can deliver a 6/1 treble

Last weekend, an inept display from Notts County was all that prevented a clean sweep of wins from my Home Heroes predictions, but this time around, Gillingham, Sheffield United and Rotherham United are looking even better for a Saturday punt in their matches against Chesterfield, Bournemouth and Bradford City respectively.

While I may have been slightly off my game in League One, anyone following the Home Heroes predictions in the Europa League was in for a treat, with my treble tip of Newcastle United, Partizan Belgrade and Rosenborg to win paying out odds of just over 4/1.

I was similarly successful with the three Goals Galore predictions for the Capital One Cup, with Leeds United, Swansea City and Reading all enjoying encounters with over 2.5 goals.

Now, with the focus back on the league front, I am here to tell you why backing high-flying Gillingham, Championship-chasing Sheffield United and home favourites Rotherham could be just as good a prospect.

Gillingham to beat Chesterfield @ 19/20

Last week, I backed Gillingham to deliver the goods with an away win at Dagenham & Redbridge and they didn’t disappoint, putting the Daggers to the sword with a 2-1 victory which was their third consecutive one in League Two.

This week, the good feeling around Gillingham could well continue against a Chesterfield team that has just parted ways with their hapless manager John Sheridan.

The writing had been on the wall for Sheridan for some time, with the Spireites yet to pick up a win or a clean sheet so far this season.

That run could well continue against Martin Allen’s men, who have a good record against Chesterfield, having won five of the last eight meetings between the teams.

Available at 19/20, the Gills look a decent shout for all three points.

Sheffield United to beat AFC Bournemouth @ 4/5

Sheffield United may not have the same 100% record as Gillingham, but the Blades remain unbeaten in the league, having won their only home encounter against Shrewsbury Town on the opening day.

Despite this, the Blades continue to enjoy a keen eye for goal, having scored in each of their three fixtures so far.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, are yet to win this season. The omens do not bode well for the Cherries, who come into this game having lost to Sheffield United both home and away last year.

With the Blades looking to demonstrate their sharpness in front of goal, a home win at 4/5 is the likeliest outcome here.

Rotherham United to beat Bradford City @ 83/100

While Rotherham’s away form may remain questionable, the Millers continue to dazzle and delight in front of their home support at the shiny New York Stadium.

The Yorkshire club have won five of their last six games as hosts in League Two, with their last victory being a 3-0 whitewash of Burton Albion on the first day of the season – a great way to mark the opening of their new home.

Bradford, meanwhile, continue to endure difficulties on the road and have lost eight of their last nine games away from Valley Parade.

History is on Rotherham’s side too, with the hosts coming into this match having beaten Bradford home and away last season. Backing a Millers win at 83/100 will hopefully complete another treble for bwinners backing the suggestions outlined here.
