Playing Away: Walsall, Crawley and Port Vale are all worth a punt

Jack Beresford picks three teams with the potential to ruffle a few feathers with wins in League One and League Two this Tuesday night.

Playing Away: Walsall, Crawley and Port Vale are all worth a punt

Walsall, Crawley Town and Port Vale look well-positioned for away wins this Tuesday when they travel to Stevenage, Colchester United and Fleetwood Town in Leagues One and Two, and they could make for a money-making trio come the end of 90 minutes.

Last time out, the fortunes of Notts County and Morecambe put pay to my hopes of securing a big Playing Away payout, with the pair drawing their corresponding fixtures.

Thankfully, the opportunity for a reprieve has come swiftly with Tuesday night action and what an opportunity it is, with this treble offering odds of just over 32/1, which translates to a whopping £652.80 for anyone looking to use bwin’s free £20 bet for registering on this beauty.

So, (drum roll please) let us commence proceedings.

Walsall to beat Stevenage @ 3/1

Dean Smith’s Walsall team may not be the best in League One, but few can argue with the fact that they have enjoyed some notable success on the road over the last few games.

Taking seven points from a possible nine, the Saddlers head into this match having won their last two fixtures away from home against Notts County and Portsmouth.

Stevenage, meanwhile, come to this game off the back of just a single win from their last five competitive fixtures. The hosts remain particularly susceptible to conceding goals too, having failed to keep a clean sheet in five games, letting in 11 in the process.

With the chances of a Walsall victory better than the odds suggest, backing an away win at 3/1 makes sense.

Crawley Town to beat Colchester United @ 7/5

While not everyone’s cup of tea in the football league, it’s fair to say that Crawley Town’s relentless march up the lower levels of English football shows little sign of abating.

The Reds have won five of their last six games in all competitions and have shown themselves to be a formidable force on the road too.

Since losing to Swindon away earlier in the campaign, Crawley have pulled off some impressive victories on the road, with the most notable of these coming against Doncaster Rovers and Preston North End.

They could not ask for more obliging opponents than Colchester United, who head into this match off the back of three straight defeats.

The Us are on a rotten run of form in all competitions too, with a record which has seen them win just one of their last 19 league fixtures, with that last victory coming way back in April against Tranmere.

Crawley look good to do the business at 7/5

Port Vale to beat Fleetwood Town @ 12/5

While Port Vale’s finances may be fragile, Micky Adams continues to guide the club to some great results on the pitch, which have seen the team climb to second in League Two.

On a run of three straight wins, Vale’s finest hour so far came with a 6-2 demolition of promotion contenders Rotherham.

The run of success has not just been restricted to fixtures at Vale Park either, with the Valiants showing some good away form with 3-1 wins over Plymouth and Morecambe.

And while Fleetwood Town head into the game off the back of some decent form, they have yet to be truly tested, having claimed victories against the inept pairing of Plymouth Argyle and Morecambe.

Expect Port Vale to dispense another footballing lesson with a win at 12/5
