Gills and Oxford cut for promotion after maintaining perfect records
The two sides have had their odds slashed after impressive victories this weekend, while Rotherham are still clear favourites to go up, closely followed by Fleetwood Town.
Early-season pacesetters Gillingham and Oxford United continued their 100% starts in League Two with victories over Dagenham and Redbridge and Plymouth Argyle respectively at the weekend and the latest odds now suggest that promotion is a realistic target for both teams, while Rotherham and Fleetwood Town also continue to feature prominently in the betting to escape the fourth tier.

The Gills have looked impressive so far under the stewardship of experienced manager Martin Allen and a 2-1 victory away to near-neighbours Dagenham further enhanced the belief that the Kent club are on course for a successful campaign. This has been reflected in their odds for promotion, which were cut post-match from 7/2 to 11/4 as Allen’s men are now sitting in second position.
Oxford are the only other club to start with three wins in League Two after an impressive 2-1 home success over Plymouth. Striker Deane Smalley scored both goals to fire the U’s to the top of the table and their odds for promotion have also been cut slightly as they are now available at just 2/1 for promotion and 15/2 to win the title.
Rotherham, who have been favourites for the title since before a ball was kicked, saw their odds remain at 3/1 (7/10 for promotion), despite a 1-1 draw at Chesterfield representing their second game without a win following a midweek defeat to Northampton Town.

The Cobblers’ odds for promotion have since been cut from 9/2 to 4/1 after that triumph over Rotherham and a 1-1 draw with Southend United on Saturday.
The Shrimpers, who were one of the pre-season favourites for promotion, have faltered so far this campaign. With just one point from three games, their odds for promotion have drifted from 4/1 before the latest round of fixtures to 9/2.
Wycombe and Aldershot have also seen their odds for promotion lengthen after poor results this weekend. Wanderers lost 3-1 at home to Bristol Rovers and are now 6/1 from 5/1, while Rovers have moved in from 4/1 to 7/2 for promotion.
The Shots drifted from 6/1 to 7/1 after a 1-0 home loss to third-placed Cheltenham Town, who can be backed at 4/1 to go one better than last year – they were beaten by Crewe in the play-off final – and grab a spot in League One for next season.
Meanwhile, Fleetwood are the current second favourites for promotion with bwin. They can be backed at odds of 6/4, shortened slightly from 2/1 after a 1-0 victory over Burton Albion this weekend. The Cod Army are also at 13/2 to deliver the title.
