Back France ace Giroud to succeed in the Premier League

Olivier Giroud’s goals might have helped to fire Montpellier to the 2011-12 Ligue 1 title, but he is odds-on with bwin at 13/20 to score under 12.5 goals in the Premier League next season.

The striker has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the summer, with reports suggesting a deal is close to completion.

If he does move to the Premier League, then there could be money to be made from the 25-year-old replicating his form for Montpellier in the English top flight.

Giroud is priced at 11/10 to score at least 13 goals in the Premier League in the forthcoming campaign, meaning a £20 free bet on the outcome would return £42.

With 21 goals in 36 league games for Montpellier last season, Giroud boasts the sort of stats which suggest he can success across the channel.

Although the 25-year-old is playing second fiddle to Real Madrid hotshot Karim Benzema in the France squad at Euro 2012, he hinted at an ability to cut it at the highest level with a goal in a friendly victory over Germany for Les Bleus in February.

He also provided two assists in France’s come-from-behind victory against Iceland in one of their Euro 2012 warm-up matches.

With this in mind, 11/10 on him scoring over 12.5 goals in the Premier League next season looks a good price.

It is thought Gunners boss Arsene Wenger sees Giroud as the sort of high-profile signing which will convince Robin van Persie to sign a new contract with the club.

The Dutch forward’s current deal has just a year left to run, meaning Arsenal could be forced to sell their captain in order to avoid losing him for free next summer.

However, with Germany hotshot Lukas Podolski already added to the Arsenal ranks, Giroud’s signing would be a significant statement of intent and could lead to Van Persie committing his future to the club he joined in 2004.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have also been linked with Giroud’s fellow France international Yann M’Vila as Wenger looks to overhaul his squad significantly.
