Goals Galore: Get a net-bulging 5/1 on this Premier League treble

One measly goal away last weekend. If only Sergio Aguero had scored that late sitter at the Etihad against Arsenal… but c’est la vie, on to the next one as we check out Everton v Southampton, Fulham v Manchester City and Sunderland v Wigan Athletic.

Three Saturday afternoon kick-offs keep this week’s Goals Galore short and sweet. We’ll know by the time Manchester United and Tottenham play whether we have made up for that agonising miss last Sunday.

Should you want to share the highs and lows with us, then why not put the free £20 bet you receive for opening a bwin account on this treble to give yourself a shot at £116.64 in potential winnings? You’ll find it heavily increases how much you care about Sunderland v Wigan.

Given that Everton played in the least amount of Premier League games featuring over 2.5 goals last season, it may appear peculiar that I am backing their match for a second week in a row.

However, having come up trumps in their 3-0 win at Swansea, I trust that David Moyes has built a side capable of finding the net more often than in previous seasons and Tuesday’s 2-1 loss at Leeds in the Capital One Cup proved that they can be vulnerable at the back.

The Saints have been going goal mad since their return to the top flight, with four of their five games so far featuring five strikes or more.

Surely wanting to make up for that midweek defeat at Elland Road – and to keep up their good league start – the Toffees can be expected to come out firing. Both teams have in-form strikers in Victor Anichebe (his potential replacement for this game by the fit-again Nikica Jelavic is not exactly worrying me) and Rickie Lambert, both of whom will fancy their chances of finding the net again at Goodison Park.

Over 2.5 goals in Fulham v Man City @ 4/5

Once bitten, twice shy… does not apply here. I’m backing City to repay the faith and score (and concede) the goals that could make this treble.

Four of the previous five meetings between these two have seen over 2.5 goals scored and with City fresh off a six-goal thriller with Aston Villa in the League Cup, that could well be the order of the day at Craven Cottage.

All five of Fulham’s Premier League games so far have featured three or more goals and with the champions coming to town, it would be rude not to make it six out of six.

Martin Jol’s side are joint-top scorers in the division with Manchester United (12), while City remain unbeaten and have bagged ten in their five games.

Over 2.5 goals in Sunderland v Wigan @ Evens

Finally we come to the Stadium of Light and a team likely to be a Goals Galore regular when they play away due to a statistic I have already spouted more than once this season.

Fourteen of Wigan’s 19 away games in the Premier League last season featured over 2.5 goals due to some heroic fightbacks and frankly awful defending.

Sunderland have not been full of goals this season (well, Steven Fletcher has), but there are few games more likely to buck that trend than this one.

The last three meetings between the two have seen three goals or more and with James McLean and Craig Gardner firing for Martin O’Neill’s men against MK Dons in midweek, perhaps some of the burden can be taken off Fletcher.

With Wigan executing a rather shocking 4-1 win at West Ham on Tuesday, away goals appears to still be a favoured hobby of the Lancashire club – and so ends this week’s Goals Galore treble.
