Man Utd eye midfielder as title rivals make moves
Borussia Dortmund star Shinji Kagawa is moving closer to signing for Manchester United.
With Chelsea close to the capture of Eden Hazard and Manchester City reportedly lining up a swoop for Javier Martinez, Manchester United have renewed their interest in Japan midfielder Shinji Kagawa.
The Old Trafford outfit had a bid for the 23-year-old rejected last week but an improved offer is set to be more favourably viewed by German champions Borussia Dortmund.
Crucially, Kagawa’s desire to seal a move to the Premier League means his wage demands are unlikely to prove a complication.
United certainly need to start making progress in the transfer market if they are to keep up with Chelsea.

Eden Hazard claims he is set to sign for the Champions League winners, while deals for Hulk and Falcao are also mooted as part of Roman Abramovich’s strategy to return the Blues to the pinnacle of the English game.
Manchester City, meanwhile, are sure to add to their squad as they seek a formula for European glory as well as domestic success.
As it stands, City are the 27/20 favourites to win the title with bwin, with Manchester United odds at 11/5 and Chelsea at 9/2.
However, this is sure to change over the summer as players are moved in and out, and United will be hopeful that the capture of Kagawa will be the first step towards reclaiming their Premier League crown.
Kagawa scored 13 goals and assisted a further eight in 31 games for Dortmund in the Bundesliga last season to help Die Borussen win the title by eight points from Bayern Munich.
He moved to Dortmund from Cerezo Osaka in 2010.
