Manchester City are now the clear, outright favourites for the Premier League after Roberto Mancini’s side won and local rivals Manchester United lost in a dramatic Saturday of top-flight action. City left it late to beat Fulham at Craven Cottage, with Edin Dzeko’s winner giving the Citizens a 2-1 success which saw their odds trimmed from 33/20 to 3/2 to win the title.
After City’s victory, United lost for the second time this season as Tottenham gained their first victory at Old Trafford since 1989, winning 3-2 in a pulsating clash. That defeat, the first at home for Sir Alex Ferguson’s men since New Year’s Eve, has seen their title odds lengthened to 2/1 from 33/20. Spurs are now in to 50/1 to win the title, from 66/1, following their stunning triumph.
Chelsea remain third favourites after winning 2-1 against Arsenal at the Emirates in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday. Juan Mata’s winner means the Blues are now 3/1 for the Premier League crown, in from 15/4 before the weekend’s action. Meanwhile, the Gunners have been pushed out to 11/1 from 8/1 following the home defeat.

It was a good weekend for both Merseyside clubs, with Everton and Liverpool winning comfortably. The Toffees’ 3-1 victory over Southampton at Goodison Park leaves Everton in second place and David Moyes’ men are now 66/1 to win the Premier League. That is the same price as Liverpool, who won their first league match under Brendan Rodgers with a fine display at Carrow Road, a Luis Suarez hat-trick sealing a 5-2 win over Norwich.
That heavy defeat for the Canaries leaves them winless this season and Chris Hughton’s team are now 3/4 to be relegated (from 4/5). Reading are slightly shorter (at 7/10) after their 2-2 home draw with Newcastle, while Southampton are also odds-on after their defeat against Everton, priced at 19/20 from 6/5.
Wigan Athletic are 8/5 fourth favourites for the drop after losing 1-0 at Sunderland.
