I take back every bad thing I ever said about the international break – it’s great!

Two out of two from last week’s selections – a 10/1 Friday winner and then a 9/1 Tuesday triumph – kept this punter in suede driving gloves (don’t you judge me) and if you backed both accas with £20 bets, then your bank balance will be £417.83 better off (minus glove money, of course).

This week it’s back to domestic action, so we scour the length and breadth of European club football to find the four fixtures which may produce the goods for us, as long as none of them require a Polish roof to go ahead.

Eintracht Frankfurt to beat Hannover 96 @ 23/20

The Bundesliga is always a good bet, as German efficiency (before Sweden came along) means they play half an hour before England’s 3pm kick-offs, so we can get off and rolling before some League Two team inevitably disappoints us.

But who to go for? Well, there’s Bayern Munich of course and Borussia Dortmund as well, oh and Eintracht Frankfurt… *little scouse voice* “Eintracht Frankfurt? Who are dey?”

A founding member of the Bundesliga in 1963, Eintracht Frankfurt have a big history in German football and were once famously on the wrong end of a 7-3 classic European Cup final against Real Madrid at Hampden Park. They are currently in their first season back in the top flight after promotion last May.

Die Adler (The Eagles, great band!) have started the season phenomenally, winning five of their first seven games and currently sit second behind Bayern, ahead of Schalke and Dortmund.

On Saturday they welcome Hannover, who have lost two of their three away trips in this campaign, which leads me to put my weight behind Armin Veh’s side marching on to another victory.

Fulham to beat Aston Villa @ 3/4

Fulham are very good at home, Villa are very bad away. Done.

Joking aside, essentially this is a match where form will probably be the deciding factor, in which case Martin Jol’s men should win relatively comfortably.

After two big home wins over Norwich (5-0) and West Brom (3-0), Fulham did come up short against Manchester City (1-2), but Aston Villa are no Manchester City.

Paul Lambert has had a difficult start to life at Villa Park and has seen his side lose three of their four away games, scoring just twice. In the circumstances, 3/4 seems very generous for a Cottagers triumph.

Tranmere Rovers to beat Bournemouth @ 37/20

There must be a reason Tranmere are 9/5, there just has to be. Perhaps that Bournemouth are at home and won this fixture last season? Perhaps because they’ve just re-hired Eddie Howe? I’m not sure. I’m just going to quietly place this bet and hope the bwin bookies don’t realise their mistake.

Rovers are top of League One and remain unbeaten after twelve games, scoring a whopping 29 goals, in the process whereas the Cherries have recently sacked a manager and sit in 21st place.

Ronnie Moore has worked miracles with his team this season, although losing hitman Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro to long-term injury won’t help, but they still managed to recover from 2-0 down to beat Yeovil 3-2 at Prenton Park last week.

The home side will be reliant on the Howe effect, but with just one win from their six games at Dean Court in 2012/13, and with four wins from six on the road for Tranmere, the 9/5 on offer really does seem too good to be true.

Real Madrid to beat Celta Vigo @ 3/20

This selection comes out of the need to follow a pattern. The successful accy of a few weeks ago relied on Juventus to sweep aside Chievo in the last game and last Friday, England’s thumping of San Marino sealed the winnings in a nice and calm way.

So with that in mind, and because the Tranmere selection beefs this coupon up a lot, I think it’ll be nice to have Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo settle things in the 5pm kick-off at the Bernabeu.

It was a more than stuttering start to the season for Los Blancos, only picking up four points from their opening four games.

However, wins over Rayo Vallecano and Deportivo were followed by a solid draw against rivals Barcelona in the Camp Nou and those results, along with two Champions League victories, suggest that Real are back on track.

Celta Vigo are enjoying their first season back in the top flight having been relegated from La Liga in 2007.

Long gone are stars like Aleksandr Mostovoi and Valery Karpin (remember them?) and having lost all three of their away games so far, are as close to a sure thing to be defeated on Saturday as they come.
